Meet Anand Manikuttan Nair, who joined RSK Renewables as a Planning Engineer and has been keeping projects on track since he joined in 2023. A typical day for Anand involves reviewing project schedules, coordinating closely with teams, and updating plans to make sure everything runs smoothly, because for him, there’s nothing more satisfying than turning complex projects into clear, manageable plans. He’s especially proud of his ability to create realistic, detailed schedules that keep everyone aligned and moving forward.
While people often assume Anand is an introvert, he’s actually an extrovert at heart, bringing plenty of energy and collaboration to the team. If he could have any superpower, it would be time travel, which makes perfect sense for a planner who knows just how valuable time really is. Blair Fletcher
Solar Design Engineer

Blair Fletcher
Solar Design Engineer
Meet Blair Fletcher, who joined RSK Renewables three months ago as a Solar Design Engineer and has quickly become a valued part of the design team. His role centres around reviewing tender documentation and Employer’s Requirements, using this information to design compliant and efficient solar PV systems tailored to each client. Blair particularly enjoys working across different system sizes and grid connection types, finding the best possible solution for every project.
A key strength Blair brings to the team is his proficiency in PVCASE design, alongside his ability to think on his feet when challenges arise. When a standard approach doesn’t quite work, Blair is quick to explore alternative connection options, helping to keep designs practical, competitive and innovative.
Blair joined RSK Renewables at an important stage in his career, keen to step into larger, more complex solar PV projects with a variety of grid connection agreements. With RSK Renewables’ strong reputation across Scotland and the wider UK, and its involvement in large-scale solar tenders, the company aligned perfectly with his career ambitions. While still early in his time with the business, Blair is already proud to be contributing designs that support successful tenders.
Outside of work, Blair has a surprisingly impressive sporting track record, having represented Scotland five times across two different sports over the past eight years. When he’s not flying the flag on the design front, you’re likely to find him either testing his aim with clay pigeon shooting or enjoying a competitive round of golf. If he could choose a superpower, it would be the power of flight—ideal for someone who likes to see projects from every angle. One thing Blair never starts a workday without is his trusty coffee mug, which is always close by.
What Blair appreciates most about the team at RSK Renewables is how approachable and supportive everyone is, making it easy to ask questions and learn quickly. He also values the unique advantage of working within the wider RSK Group, where expertise from other companies can be drawn upon throughout the tender and construction process.
Looking ahead to the next 12 months, Blair is excited to continue designing utility-scale solar farms for clients across the UK. His advice for anyone considering a career in renewables is to look beyond just the technologies and explore the wide range of roles the sector has to offer. His favourite saying, “What’s for you won’t go past you,” sums up his positive and grounded approach to both work and life.

Dougie joined RSK Renewables after being invited to add his experience to help grow the business and values the strong communication, flexibility and global reach of the company. His advice to anyone considering a career in renewables is to jump at the opportunity, start at the bottom, keep learning and embrace the chance to work around the world, while over the next 12 months he is looking forward to seeing larger projects come to life and RSK continue to grow, all guided by his favourite quote: “The solution to any problem: Work, love, money, whatever, is to go fishing, and the worse the problem, the longer the trip should be.”

Meet Jamie Meiklejohn one of our great Project Managers, who’s been with the RSK Renewables for a year, and no two days ever look the same. Usually starting between 7:30 and 8am, Jamie’s time is spent moving between site visits and audits, meeting with stakeholders, catching up with designers and QSs, completing CPPs and RAMS, checking contractor documentation, and updating project programmes for clients. Outside of work, rugby is a big passion and Jamie is currently a head coach for a 1st XV. A fun (and unexpected) fact is that Prince Harry once made Jamie a cup of tea and brought him breakfast. If a superpower were an option, teleportation would be the top choice for making site-hopping easier, and a good QS is an absolute must during the workday.
Jamie joined RSK Renewables to play a part in creating a cleaner energy future and to be part of a large organisation with plenty of room to grow, and one of the biggest achievements so far has been working on the Scottish Water framework, delivering energy-efficient solutions across a range of sites. John Innes
Senior Solar Design Manager

John Innes
Senior Solar Design Manager
Meet John Innes, our Senior Solar Design Manager! Originally from Connecticut, John has been part of the RSK Renewables team for two and a half years, bringing technical expertise, curiosity, and a genuine passion for solar energy to every project he works on. His days are a dynamic mix of emailing about products, meeting with suppliers and contractors, designing layouts in AutoCAD, running production models in PVSyst, and coordinating closely with Project Managers. It’s a role that demands both precision and adaptability—and that’s exactly what John enjoys most.
What John loves about his job is the problem solving. When he gets the time to really dig into a challenge and figure it out, that’s when he’s at his best. Recently, he’s taken on the challenge of building a CT cabinet with summation devices and getting to grips with components such as CT Terminal Shorting Blocks—proof that in renewables, there’s always something new to learn.
One skill John proudly brings to the team is his in-depth knowledge of Excel. While he admits it might sound unusual, his understanding of the software’s intricacies has been invaluable—supporting pricing for solar projects, developing cable calculation sheets, and managing large sets of weather data (all 17,520 cells of it). His technical mindset and attention to detail play a key role in delivering efficient, well-designed projects.
John joined RSK Renewables driven by a long-standing interest in solar energy and a desire to contribute to environmental progress. He saw RSK as the best opportunity in the UK to pursue meaningful work in the sector. One of his proudest achievements so far has been working on the design for Glasgow Airport. It’s been a challenging journey, but seeing the project installed and operational will be a significant milestone.
Teamwork is central to how John works. The design team consistently supports one another, stepping in to pick up projects when workloads are high. He believes what makes RSK Renewables unique is that everyone is learning and adapting together—growing with the industry while helping each other along the way.
Outside of work, John’s adventurous side shines through. In the summer of 2012, he biked from Boston to San Francisco with two friends—an achievement that speaks volumes about his determination and resilience. These days, he enjoys hiking, and while ultimate Frisbee was a big part of his life back in the States, he still appreciates staying active. During the workday, coffee is essential, occasionally accompanied by original Pringles.
If he could have any superpower, John would choose the ability to learn languages instantly just by hearing them—a fitting wish for someone who values learning. His advice for anyone considering a career in renewable energy is to gain hands-on experience where possible. While not essential but it provides valuable context that strengthens design knowledge.
Looking ahead to the next 12 months, John is excited to work on some of the largest projects of his career so far, continuing to push his skills further. His personal philosophy reflects both humour and wisdom: “Don’t take life too seriously, you’ll never get out alive,” alongside “Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless – like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle; you put water in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend” – Bruce Lee

During the workday, there’s one non-negotiable that keeps him going: the Ken Bruce PopMaster quiz. If he could choose a superpower, reading minds would be top of the list—an understandable choice for someone whose role relies on understanding people as much as processes.
For anyone considering a career in the renewable energy sector, Karl’s advice is simple and realistic: be prepared for hard work and a wide variety of challenges. Looking ahead to the next 12 months, he’s focused on taking the team to the next level on their safety journey and continuing to embed a strong, data-driven safety culture across the business. Looking ahead, Katie is excited to support the growth of RSK Renewables while mentoring her team, helping them achieve sustainable career growth along the way.
